Pally (Solomon Island Eclectus)

Pally is so intelligent it scares us sometimes. He loves to spend the day playing. He has a favorite acrylic foot toy that he brings everywhere he goes and he goes every where. He pretty much has the full run of the living room and the stairway that leads to the basement. He loves to play on his boings and swings. In the morning he lets the whole world know he is alive! He can be a little on the loud side but it is typically just for a few minutes (just has to get those lungs cleared out for the day). Then it is time for a little birdie bread. His favorite seems to be a Mexican blend. Then it is time for play. He has a large stainless steel bowl that his toys are in or at least that is where they start. In no time flat he has removed them to the floor and it is down the ladder to play. He will request the presence of his slaves several times a day to re-stock the toy bowl so the process can start again. About 4 in the afternoon it is time to start letting the slaves know that I am getting hungry again. Now it is time for the feast; fresh veggies, fruit, sprouts and a mixture of beans and rice.

                                                            JB Blue and Gold Macaw

JB (Jackie Bird) is a very sweet 7 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. Like Pally she was a rescue bird that was brought home from a rescue. When I contacted the rescue and they told me they had a Blue and Gold by the name of Jackie (Same name as my better half) well......I knew it was meant to be. We had never had a fid as large as JB and she came with some baggage from her previous homes. There was something about her that told me below the tough and sometimes mean outer bird was a sweet little girl. A year went by and we worked with her everyday. We found she just needed to know she was loved and we were going to be her forever parronts. She is now just a lover, who loves to be scritched and held. She will give you kisses and snuggle. She has a great vocabulary including a lot of words that describe her old diet...French Fry is one of her favorites.
